Know Me Better!

About2

Since I Was a Child, I Have Always Been Fascinated by the World of Crafts, by Beautiful Things and by Those That Possess a Unique and Particular Story.

The Feeling of Creating a Product with My Hands Starting From Someone's Dreams and Making It Starting From the Raw Materials Chosen Together, Is My Passion and What Makes Me Happy.

I Am Laura Fichera, Born in 1996, Born in Modena (Ita) and Raised in a City Not Far Away, Where Thanks to My Carpenter Grandparents I Learned the Beauty of Craft Creation.

From the Beginning, I Had the Need to Express My Creativity Through Drawing, the Materials That Surrounded Me and Sewing.

So I Started to Observe My Grandmother While She Was Sewing or Knitting. Seeing Her Create Objects Starting From Some Pieces of Fabric or a Ball of Wool Has Always Fascinated Me, I Watched Her with Admiration While She Created Unique and Colorful Things.

I Therefore Decided to Enroll in the Art School of My City to Try to Recreate the Same Magic. Here I Learned the Basics of Modeling and Sewing, Giving Everything a Meaning and a Why.

University Studies

Aware That All This Could Not Be Enough, I Enrolled at NABA (New Academy of Fine Arts) in Milan, Where for Three Years I Immersed Myself in Creation and Experimentation, Trying to Create, Also Through New Knowledge, a Personal Style.

During the Third Year of University, I Realized That the World of Fast Fashion Was Not Suitable for Me and I Decided, in My Free Time, to Attend a High Fashion Embroidery Course at the Pino Grasso Ricami School, Where I Learned the Basics of Lunéville Embroidery.

La Ville Lumière!

After Graduating and Completing the Embroidery Course, I Decided That I Wanted to Continue on This Path, Opting to Move to Paris and Start the Courses Offered at the Ecole Lésage. Here, Starting From the Basics Already Provided to Me in Milan, I Learned the Most Disparate and Innovative Techniques.

Once This Path Was Completed, I Decided to Stay in the French Capital and Do an Internship in a High Fashion Atelier, Followed Immediately After by an Internship in an Embroidery Atelier for Design.

In the Latter, Together with Marie Berthouloux, the Head and Hands Behind Studio Ekceli, I Understood That Embroidery Is Only a Means and That You Can Experiment a Lot Thanks to the Use of the Most Disparate Materials and Techniques Made Available From Antiquity. In the Atelier I Also Learned the Specialty of the Latter, Namely the “orfèvrerie textile”, Textile Goldsmithing in Italian, a Technique of Working Gold Embroidery Created Through the Use of Canottiglie and Foils.

In 2020, Marie and I Won the Refinement Award Made Every Year by the City of Paris, Which Allowed Me to Stay in the Atelier for the Duration of One Year and to Learn, in Addition to the Techniques, Also the Administrative Part Necessary for the Creation of an Atelier.

The Beginning of the Dream...

At the End of This Path, I Decided to Open My Own Atelier in Which to Create Customizable Accessories and Handmade Clothes, with Attention to Detail, to the Fabric, But Above All, to the Customer.

Because It Is Precisely From the Customer That I Take Inspiration and That Pushes Me to Want to Create, Based on Their Personality and Their Tastes, Unique Products. All My Creations Are Drawn by Hand and Every Product That Leaves My Atelier Has Been Packaged by Me with Care and Love.

Each Piece of Fabric or Bead Present in the Studio Has Been Carefully Selected for a Specific Design, Always Keeping in Mind That Everything Is Possible and That There Is No Right or Wrong...

It Is Only the Imagination That Sets the Limits!
